Dr. Jennie Hauschka
Dr. Jennie Hauschka grew up in a small town in West Virginia. She always had an interest in medicine. In childhood she spent time at a free clinic for pregnant women and children with her mother, a volunteer. After many years of competitive skiing in WV, she attended college at The Colorado College, graduating with a Biology degree. She then returned to West Virginia University for medical school, where she spent most of her time during the first two years of medical school working toward a career in plastic surgery. During her third year clerkships, she discovered OB/Gyn and could not see herself in any other specialty. "There is nothing like delivering babies, being there for patients during that amazing time." She loved the combination of surgery and primary care. "I like the primary care aspects of the specialty, the strong relationships that develop over years of working together as patient and physician.
She recently completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, which has given her outstanding experience in both routine and high-risk obstetrics and gynecology. She has been trained in advanced laparoscopic procedures and routine gynecologic surgery. Her clinical interests include minimally-invasive surgery, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, preventive care, family planning, high risk obstetrics and diabetes in pregnancy.
Dr. Hauschka resides in Charlotte with her husband Andy, a dentist, and their son Cole. They are expecting a second child this December. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, skiing, running, reading and taking weekend trips to the beach or mountains. |
