Dr. Avery hails from the small, rural town of Cooksville, MD. As a
young teen participating in a hospital volunteer program, she determined OB/GYN
to be her career choice. Her experiences while volunteering on the labor
and delivery floor helped shape her passion for providing excellent care for
women and children.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University Of
Maryland Baltimore County, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She
received her Doctorate of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine
in Washington, DC. Dr. Avery's experiences during medical
school solidified her passion and calling to care for women and help bring new
life into the world.
Dr. Avery completed her specialty training in OB/GYN at Pennsylvania Hospital
in Philadelphia, PA. She was appointed an Administrative
Chief Resident during her final year of residency. During her residency
training she received awards for excellence in teaching and administration, as
well as an award from the American
Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists for special excellence in
endoscopic procedures.
Her professional interests include teen and young woman
wellness, preventive healthcare, geriatric womens care, and minimally invasive
surgery techniques. Dr. Avery states, It is nothing but a blessing and
privilege to be part of the miracle of life and help maintain wellness for
women of all ages.
Dr. Avery's personal interests include spending time with
her family, traveling, relaxing on the beach, reading, listening to music, and
participating in community service.
